Saskatchewan expands scope of practice for three health professions
The Saskatchewan government has approved an expansion of scope of practice for pharmacists, advanced care paramedics, and nurse practitioners, to become effective over the course of this year. Pharmacist scope will now include prescribing medication, ordering lab tests, and conducting point-of-care testing. Advanced care paramedics will be allowed to suture minor wounds. Nurse practitioner scope will expand in the are of ling-term care patients as well as admitting and discharging patients.
