Alabama Senate introduces board consolidation bill
Alabama State Senator Chris Elliott has introduced Senate Bill 193, proposing the consolidation of 19 occupational licensing boards into a newly established Office of Occupational and Professional Licensing within the Alabama Department of Workforce. This office would centralize leadership, support, and oversight for various professional licensing boards, aiming to enhance efficiency and uniformity in licensing, fees, funding, and expenses. The proposed consolidation, set to commence on October 1, 2026, includes boards overseeing professions such as counseling, electrical contracting, and massage therapy.
