India: new regulatory bodies for dentists and nurses

The National Dental Commission Bill and the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill would establish autonomous regulatory bodies for these professions. The bills call for separate boards responsible for education, assessment and rating, and ethics and registration. A real-time live national register would also be established to share data on credentials. The bill would also establish a consistent scope of practice for nurses.
