British Columbia: fee increase for nurse licensure
The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives has announced a $78 increase in registration fees, up to $600 annual registration fee in 2023-24. The College indicated that inflation, costs from the pandemic, and increased cost of complex investigations necessitate the fee increase. An online petition in opposition to the increase has gained 7,000 signatures. The BC Nurses Union has requested a meeting with the College. The Ministry of Health has indicated that a financial audit of the cost to regulate the profession is undertaken annually.
