Utah: Division of Professional Licensing to study requirements for life coaches
Following the highly publicized case of Jodi Hildebrandt and Ruby Franke, the Utah Division of Professional Licensing will study a proposal to regulate life coaches. DOPL will consider the harm of unregulated practice, the scope of practice, and the requirements for safe practice before making recommendations for a bill in the next legislative session.
A separate bill in this session would increase the number of direct client hours and direct observation requirements to become a fully licensed therapist as well as establish criminal background check requirements for the profession.
