Colorado: new laws to regulate funeral industry

Three new laws in Colorado will bring stricter regulation to the funeral industry. Funeral directors, mortuary science professionals, embalmers, cremationists and natural reductionists will now be required to have an individual license. Inspections of funeral facilities will be more routine instead of just in response to complaints. Non-transplant tissue banks will continue to be regulated, and the Department of Regulatory Agencies will have the authority to create regulatory rules. The law additionally prohibits any joint interest in a non-transplant tissue bank and a funeral home.
