Alberta government reviews freedom of speech for regulated professionals
The Alberta government is considering amendments to the Alberta Bill of Rights to protect freedom of expression for regulated professionals. These changes aim to ensure that individuals can express personal beliefs without fearing repercussions against their license from their professional regulatory bodies, as long as their professional competence is unaffected. The government will engage professional regulatory bodies; regulated professionals; and other organizations, associations or experts in a review to inform decision-making and ensure that regulations uphold professional standards while safeguarding individuals' rights to free speech.
