California: final steps to nurse practitioners' independent practice
The California Board of Registered Nurses has approved rules to allow nurse practitioners to practice without a written agreement or physician supervision. A 2020 law creates two categories of nurse practitioner. NPs with 4600 hours or three years of full time clinical practice can apply to work without contractual physician supervision in facilities where ate least one doctor or surgeon also practices.
