Vermont study considers regulation of doulas

A bill under consideration in Vermont would require the Office of Professional Regulation to explore the process of professional certification or licensure for doulas. Studies have highlighted how doulas can play a role in creating more positive birth experiences and better outcomes, addressing inequities in maternal and infant health outcomes for marginalized groups. Regulation of the profession is a requirement before Medicaid will cover the services.
