Alaska considers Nurse Licensure Compact
Governor Mike Dunleavy has introduced legislation (HB 131 and SB 124) to have Alaska join the Multistate Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). The NLC allows registered nurses and licensed practical/vocational nurses to practice across member states with a single license, facilitating greater workforce mobility. By joining the compact, Alaska aims to address nursing shortages, enhance access to healthcare, and streamline the licensing process for nurses relocating to or practicing telehealth within the state. Currently, 43 states and territories participate in the NLC.
