UK: bill to regulate anaesthesia associates and physician associates
A bill in the UK to regulate anaesthesia associates and physician associates has been approved by the House of Commons and the Scottish parliament but faces a motion to decline in the House of Lords. The bill would create regulation for anaesthesia associates and physician associates under the General Medical Council. Concern has been raised in the House of Lords that the proposal removes direct parliamentary oversight of the system of regulation by giving the GMC direct powers to make and amend standards and procedures.
