The AICPA and NASBA have proposed updates to the Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA) to introduce a Competency-Based Experience Pathway for CPA licensure. This pathway emphasizes workplace skills, requiring a bachelor's degree and state-mandated coursework. The updates also modify definitions and mobility rules to accommodate candidates licensed outside the UAA framework. The exposure draft for this initiative is open for comments until December 6. These changes aim to modernize CPA licensure while supporting state boards in recognizing alternative qualifications through a national database.
