Louisiana: challenges to occupational licensing
A recent law in Louisiana allows "any interested party" to challenge occupational licensing requirements. The first petition under the law challenges a work time requirement by the Board of Veterinary Medicine. The Pelican Institute's Center for Justice is challenging the requirement that those with out-of-state licenses applying for licensure in Pennsylvania must have practiced an average of 20 hours per week over the preceeding five years. The petition for rule appeal goes before executive session of the Board.
