Colorado: report recommends changes to funeral industry regulations
A report by the Colorado Office of Policy, Research, and Regulatory Reform as part of a sunset review provides 11 recommendations and updates for regulation of the funeral home industry. Recommendations include more routine and periodic inspections, allowing inspections to continue after business operations have ended or a license becomes expired, allowing inspections outside of business hours, and the authority to discipline a facility for not responding to a complaint and suspending registration for not following a state order. The report does not recommend individual licensing of funeral professionals but the continuation of title protection.
