CLEAR's President's Message- February 2025
As we each steer a course through extraordinary and uncertain times, please be assured that CLEAR – and our international community of regulators – is here as a resource and a support to you and your organization. As we journey together, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you—our dedicated members, partners, and colleagues across the global regulatory community. Your unwavering commitment to public protection, professional integrity, and regulatory excellence continues to inspire, and I am honored to serve as CLEAR’s President and to represent this global community of regulators.
Futurist Brian Solis once remarked “Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.” For CLEAR that ‘something together’ is working with regulators on four continents to support future generations via our Elevate mentoring program, developing a suite of educational offerings of career-spanning relevance, and learning from colleagues in Alaska and Australia, and everywhere in between.
At CLEAR’s recent midyear business meetings, regulators from across the international community selected program content for this year’s annual conference, taking place in Chicago, September 15-18. There we will learn, network, and celebrate regulatory excellence and agility. Registration is now open, and I look forward to welcoming you to our extraordinary host city in a few short months.
In addition to our in-person programming, CLEAR is seeing remarkable engagement in our training programs and leadership development initiatives. Our online and in-person learning opportunities have reached a record number of participants, underscoring the increasing demand for high-quality regulatory education. In 2025, we will continue to expand these offerings, ensuring that regulatory professionals at all stages of their careers have access to the resources they need.
Our focus remains on addressing the pressing issues shaping regulatory practice today and in the future. Here are a few key priorities for the year ahead:

Technology & Regulation: The rapid advancement of technology, from AI-assisted decision-making to blockchain credentialing, presents both opportunities and challenges. CLEAR will continue its efforts to provide guidance on how regulators can harness these tools while maintaining fairness, transparency, and ethical oversight.

International Collaboration: The cross-jurisdictional mobility of professionals continues to increase (both domestically and internationally) requiring innovative approaches to licensure and regulatory oversight. CLEAR will continue to share best practices and highlight solutions that support both public protection and professional mobility.

Regulatory Research & Advocacy: Evidence-based policymaking is essential to effective regulation. This year, CLEAR will share more regulatory research, offering members access to cutting-edge studies, policy recommendations, and data-driven insights that support informed decision-making.
Your Role in Our Collective Success
The strength of our association lies in its members. I encourage you to engage with our committees, participate in our training programs, and share your insights and experiences with colleagues across the globe. If you have not yet signed up for committee service, I invite you to do so—your expertise and passion are invaluable to our work.
As Nido Qubein once said, “Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” So, I look forward to the opportunities ahead, confident that together, we will continue to shape a regulatory landscape that is effective, forward-thinking, and responsive to the needs of public and professionals alike.
