Media Scrutiny and Public Outrage- How Can Regulators Respond?
Webinar Recordings
Although regulators are constantly working to protect public health, safety, and well-being, it’s usually only when something goes wrong that regulators get attention from the media. How can regulators respond to media scrutiny and public outrage?
Grant McArthur, Manager of Media and Digital for the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, will share strategies AHPRA has taken for a more proactive approach to see if the media and regulators can actually be allies without compromising their respective accountabilities to the public.
Tony DeBono and Zimra Yetnikoff will share the College of Psychologists of Ontario’s approach to handling media scrutiny related to a recent high-profile decision of its Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (ICRC). They will focus on how the College decided upon its communication plan and identify some of the benefits and drawbacks to this plan. They will also share some of the lessons learned from their experience.
