Four US states now require licensed cosmetologists to receive training and be tested on services for textured hair. The Texture Education Collective is leading the movement to correct racial inequities in barbershop and salon services. The Collective stresses that the solution must be addressed in both the curriculum of cosmetology schools and the licensing exams that schools prepare their students for.
