New York: Maintaining Criminal Record Confidentiality Act

The Maintaining Criminal Record Confidentiality Act has been signed into law in New York. The law will prohibit forced disclosure of sealed or confidential criminal conviction information through background checks for licensure or employment. Also newly in effect is the Clean Slate Act, which automatically seals, after a set period of time, eligible conviction records once the person has completed their sentence with no further convictions.
