Kentucky: changes to educator disciplinary processing
Kentucky's Education Professionals Standards Board has approved regulatory changes to tighten the timeline to conduct an initial interview after receipt of a complaint against an educator; the interview must now be conducted within 30 days.
The EPSB also amended regulations for substitute teacher requirements for three new certificate types: 1-year emergency certificate, five-year certificate, and 10-year certificate. They also approved standards and guidance for a Kentucky Educator Mentorship Program for local districts to implement new teacher induction and mentor programs; all school districts are required to provide an induction program for teachers in their first year of
teaching.
