Illinois prohibits action against license for immigration violation
HB 5457 signed into law in Illinois amends the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act, the Marriage and Family Therapy Licensing Act, and the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing and Practice Act to prohibit the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation from revoking, suspending, or taking other action on a license based solely on an immigration violation by the practitioner. The new law also allows the licensing boards to grant additional examination time for Englsih as a Second Language applicants.
