Arizona: governor supports reducing requirements for cosmetology license
In his State of the State address, Arizona's Governor Ducey raised the issue of licensing requirements for cosmetology. Interest was raised after a student in cosmetology school was told by the cosmetology board that he could no longer give free haircuts to homeless veterans without having completed his barbering or cosmetology license. A bill under consideration would decrease the apprenticeship instruction hours from 250 to 200 and the barbering school hours requirement from 1,200 to 1,00- and that of cosmetology school from 1,500 to 1,000.
