NMC outlines changes in response to internal culture review

A July 20204 review into the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the UK revealed a culture of bullying, racism, and toxicity, leading to meetings with government and heightened monitoring from the Professional Standards Authority. The NMC has published an outline of actions taken and proposed next steps.
- training employees as "empowered to speak up" guardians to report concerns
- appointed an external organization to review EDI procedures
- to appoint and EDI advisor to the executive board
- set timeline targets for fitness-to-practice screenings and investigations
- upcoming FtP review and PSA annual performance review
The NMC pledges to publish meeting minutes and progress papers online and deliver regular updates.
