Minnesota: title protection for veterinary technicians
As part of an omnibus bill package, Minnesota has approved a bill to include veterinary technicians in the Veterinary Practice Act, with licensed veterinary technicians to be regulated by the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine. It will take 12-18 months to establish licensure and practice requirements, with rules to become effective in July 2026. A voluntary certification program currently exists, but the new law will create title protection for licensed veterinary technicians and loosen supervision requirements to allow them to work under remote supervision of a veterinary.
