Michigan may reinstitute regulation for interior designers

Bills introduced in the Michigan House would establish licensure requirements for interior designers. Registration had been required until it was repealed in 2014. The new legislation would establish an interior design board to oversee licensing as well as establish continuing education requirements for practitioners. If passed, the law would be effective January 1, 2026, with a 4-year grace period for current interior designers to meet the requirements.
