Illinois passes bill for licensure technology modernization

HB 2394 in Illinois, aimed at facilitating quicker licensure and renewal times, would allow the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to batch-renew licenses. The bill also sets a 3-month timeframe for the agency to contract with a technology vendor for a new online licensing system and an additional three months to have the system running. The current system does not allow new license types (that the agency now oversees) to be added to the system, resulting in a backlog of paper applications.
